Enjoy all that region has to offer. Get started with some recommendations from our travels to Uzès and the surrounding areas.

Visit Uzès

Uzès was originally a fortified town and ancient Roman settlement dating back to the 2nd century BCE. Often referred to as ‘French Tuscany’, Uzès is well known as the 1st Dukedom of France in 1632. Today it boasts the most ancient French “Duché” still standing.

Travel tips

School holidays in France, and therefore busier travel, will start July 1st. If possible, it may be easier and less busy to travel before school lets out. Arriving a day or two before the wedding weekend starts is also ideal in case of travel delays.

Provence's lavender fields start to bloom in June and by the end of the month, most of the region's lavender will be flowering. The fields peak in early to mid-July.

Some restaurants or shops in the smaller towns of Provence still operate with cash. We recommend you carry some cash as some credit cards, like American Express, may not be accepted.
