to France

Travel by Air

From Europe & Montreal

From Toronto

The closest international airport is Marseille Provence Airport. There are direct flights from Amsterdam, Montreal and London to Marseille Provence Airport. From this airport you can rent a car or take a taxi. The airport is about 1 hour and 45 minutes to the château.

Montpellier-Méditerranée Airport is about 1 hour and 20 minutes to the château. If you are traveling from within Europe, including Amsterdam and London, Montpellier may be a better option.

Depending on your travel plans, flying into Montpellier or Marseille are both suitable options.

From Toronto you will have to book a connecting flight. There are many flights that lay over in Paris, Montreal and Amsterdam. Typically it’s sensible to avoid layovers of less than 1.5 hours to prevent missing your connecting flight.

From Paris

If you prefer to fly directly to France you could fly to Paris and take a train to Avignon.

The train from Paris (Gare de Lyon station) to Avignon is about 3 hours with a 1 hour drive from Avignon station to the château.

Travel by Car

From the Netherlands

From the South of the Netherlands to the château the drive is about 10 hours. There is parking available at the château should you wish to drive to any of the weekend festivities.

Good to Know

If possible, and especially if flying with short layovers, you may consider packing your wedding attire in your carry-on in case of lost luggage.

Booking a rental car on a third party website, such as Skyscanner, is often cheaper. The roads in Provence are not always well maintained so damage insurance is recommended when booking a rental car.

Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months and you have at least one empty page (without stamps) in your passport.
